Pauline Legrand

As an artist, Pauline Legrand has exhibited in France, Brazil and Belgium. For the last 3 years, she has contributed to the collaboration between the 212 Ä°stanbul Photography Festival and the Saint Benoît high school for which she works.
In 2020, she founded her own workshop in Galata. Born in 1985 in Paris, she has lived and worked in Istanbul since 2010.
The soul of her works is carried through by the expressive power of the material and the dialogues of color. The absorption and roughness of the surface, the trace of tools and creative accidents are a sub-linguistic beginning which translates an interior discourse.

Tinted with humor, the object of this speech is most often social, engaged and mystical like our century. It goes against the figurative trend in painting and the illusion that creativity and originality depend on the mastery of software and filters.
Through the variety of feelings that her work inspires, of the moments that she describes and of the textures that she reveals, she seeks intensity rather than beauty by painting a full world that we believe to be empty.
